Rouge De Prés

High birth weights combined with exceptional growth rates make Rouge des Prés a large animal and one of the heaviest breeds in the world. These characteristics are particularly well expressed in grassland systems of temperate zones. Nearly half of breeders in the breeding cradle fatten their animals in an extensive system: animals take advantage of the richness of the meadows in the spring and the autumn regrowth, and mobilize their reserves in winter and during summer droughts.
