The Piedmontese is generally white to light grey in color with the muzzle (including inside the mouth), around the eyes, ears, tassle of the tail, hooves and horns being black. At birth the coat color of the calves is of a deep pale fawn.

The breed is of medium size with fine bone structure ,confirmation is broad and muscular with a medium sized dewlap.

The particular characteristic of the Piedmontese cattle mentioned above, is the muscular hypertrophy, better known as the ‘double muscle factor’. The double muscle factor appeared at the beginning of last century and spread progressively over the breed up to a point in which nearly all the Herd-book animals possess this characteristic and a very high percentage of the breed as a whole.

Piedmontese are known for their high feed conversion and efficiency, and were ranked first for their feed lot performance ratio<\/p>\n\n\n\n
